Courses in three modules for you who teach Nonviolent Communication (NVC), use NVC in your work or who would like to train others in NVC. The course offers NVC training in an experimental and learning community.
Our goal with this course
This course is specially designed for people who teach or train others in NVC or use NVC in the job, eg. in the context of team management. The course is aimed at people who want to create the best learning space for NVC, where both fun and seriousness have their place alongside efficiency, clarity and empathy.
With the course, we want to contribute to a supportive community where you as a participant find the confidence needed to work with empathy and honesty, and thereby unfold more of your potential.
This means that we will support you in developing your strengths so that you can use them in your work in disseminating NVC. And at the same time, we offer honest and loving feedback to change what you want to change in relation to your limitations, shadows and inhibitions.
We will train you so you can:
Listen to your own inner voice and find your own style
Communicate NVC with credibility
Contribute to increased awareness of freedom and empowerment in the groups you work with
Respond nonviolently to the outside world
Find the balance between honesty and empathy
Establish sustainable relationships with colleagues, staff and students
The course will to a large extent be characterized by our own teaching style, ie a mixture of process and experience-oriented learning, where you incorporate your own experiences in a structured training.
The intelligence of the body and the breathing will be an integral part of the training. We will explore ways to activate the body’s resources through expression, exercises and relaxation.
Training can be a big step on the path to becoming a CNVC certified trainer, but it is by no means a condition that you want to follow that path.
Prerequisites for participation
The course is organized on the basis that the participants either have at least 12 days prior training with CNVC certified trainers or similar, or have basic courses in NVC and have also worked with NVC for some years. Furthermore, it will be an advantage if you have already started to teach NVC or that you start it in parallel with this course. Admission to the course takes place after a personal interview with coach Kirsten Kristensen
Course content
Throughout the course there will be focus on practicing everyday language without losing contact with NVC. The course will start by uncovering the participants’ own learning goals. These will be merged with the topics below.
Clarity in using key differentiations in your NVC presentations
At NVC, we work with just under 30 key differentiations. This may be the difference between needs and strategies, or power over and power with. We will train both the clarity of these and their application in training situations where you yourself are a facilitator.
As a participant, you are invited to practice life-enriching responses to your own examples, as well as dealing with contact and conflict in a group.
Handle yourself when you are triggered by another person
It may happen to all of us that we are being triggered by another person. In the course, we will train awareness of our own triggers, and develop personal strategies to deal with it so that we can make life-enriching choices about what we share with others.
Integrating skills to create life-enriching communities
In our experience, the degree of success as a coach is linked to the ability to engage in team-work with other coaches. Therefore, we will train the skills that increase the chance of finding rewarding ways to collaborate.
We will investigate what motivates and inspires us and we invite the individual to find their own daily practices that can secure and conserve energy in working with NVC.
Role play training
CNVC has provided materials in the form of role-playing games that support the integration of NVC awareness. These role-plays provide an all-round training of important aspects of NVC, with feedback from course participants and educators. Here, the focus will be on giving and receiving feedback in a life-enriching way.
It will also be an opportunity to use examples from your own everyday life.
For NVC trainer candidates
For those of you working towards becoming an NVC trainer yourself, the following two points will be relevant to the certification process.
Exploring and integrating the spiritual aspects of NVC
After a few years of working with NVC, it becomes clear to most that NVC is much more than a communication process. It is also a way of contact with what we might call the spiritual dimension of life. We will explore how to find your own way of dealing with this.
Exploring what social change is for you
It is part of CNVC’s certification guide to describe your own goals for social change. Many people experience this question overwhelmingly: “How can I change the world?”
You will be supported in formulating your own goals. We will both deal with your wildest dream of the world you want to live in, and with the small steps that fit the life you are living right now. What matters is that you take the small steps in a direction you believe in yourself.
Here too, the community plays a part. Together we can do more than individually, and together we can do something that neither of us can do alone.
Offerings between the 3 modules
Tele-meetings
Between each module we offer min. one tele-meeting with the whole group and one individual teleconference. Here, current themes are explored and questions answered.
Guidance on working with the CNVC certification process
For those of you who want to work towards a CNVC certification, we strongly recommend working through this material with one or more participants during the course. In particular, we recommend the type of diary described. During the course and at the tele-meetings, there will be time for questions, to process any. resistance to the tasks, and / or to celebrate new insights.
Mutual testing and sparring
We consider self-organized group meetings and sparring agreements to be an obvious opportunity to grow and build our own skills. Therefore, we recommend that participants meet between the modules.
During the course, we will give the groups suggestions and ideas for building a structure that really promotes learning and is sustainable, also in addition to the course itself.
Optional coaching and mentoring
We offer the participants in this course the opportunity for further coaching and mentoring in addition to the course itself, for an extra fee.
We like to make individual agreements that meet the needs of the participants and our time frames.
We can also enter into mentoring days for a smaller group together.
